Scent Profile: Fresh, cooling, marine, dark, mysterious
Samandar was born from my fascination with the sea — its depth, mystery, and constant movement. I wanted to capture that feeling in scent: the cool air above the water, the salt on skin, the quiet power beneath the waves.
Inspired by the ancient Indian recipe Ghandarnava (“perfume ocean”), this blend includes seven of the sixteen original ingredients — sandalwood, khus, oud, nakh, benzoin, turmeric, and camphor — reimagined with notes of mimosa, henna, shiso, and mint for a bright, uplifting clarity. At its heart, nakh, Sumbuwa oud, pink lotus, and seaweed absolute create a natural oceanic depth, while ambergris and Mysore sandalwood smooth everything into a clean, tranquil drydown.
This is not a light, synthetic-style aquatic perfume — Samandar evokes the real sea: dark, mineral, and alive. It shifts like tides, at times bright and refreshing, at others deep and mysterious — always changing, always captivating.
Hand-blended in small batches by nose, Samandar takes weeks of patient refinement to achieve its balance. Each bottle is crafted with care and sincerity, fairly priced to reflect the art and rarity behind every drop – never to overcharge.
Please note: The sample vial caps fit very tightly and may require a bit of extra force to open and close. I’m aware of this inconvenience and will be switching to improved vials from a different supplier in future batches. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

There are so many ingredients in Samander- I had no idea what to expect. It’s a very unusual scent- I’ve never smelled another attar like it Your description of it is spot on and although it’s hard for me to pick out all of the ingredients, every once in a while one of them comes to the foreground and it’s easy to recognize. It’s amazing that such different materials blend together so well. Some of the ingredients seem to be opposites yet the compliment and magnify each other in a very pleasing way. It actually is a nice companion to the ambergris- they smell good placed near to each other.

A citrusy opening, with an iridescent and metallic bergamot Mint, which blends well with the green, aromatic profile of camphor, with that balsamic scent that is reminiscent of eucalyptus at times and acts as a bridge to the heart of the fragrance, ambergris, with an initially dry, powdery scent that will change to an oceanic scent in the following hours.
All this is supported at the base by sandalwood, blended in such a way as to bring out the woody, woodchip aspect rather than the creamy one.
