Castoreum is a secretion from the castor sacs of beavers. It is used to mark territory when sprayed with their urine. Don’t get nervous! Castoreum has a warm, leathery, complex aroma with mineral like notes. Because an absolute was used for this infusion and not raw castor sacs, the scent really comes through with clarity and amplitude.
Absolutes are made from extracting aromatic compounds from raw materials using solvents, ethanol and filtering. The solvents and ethanol are evaporated and removed, leaving behind a highly aromatic and concentrated oil.

From the first whiff, the aroma hits all my senses wow, its quite powerful. I love this Castoreum, it gives off a strong animalic smoky leather accord that is intoxicating.
Its projection is amazing and develops later to become sweet and creamy in the drydown.
If you love powerful animalics, this is definitely one to have in your collection, just stunning.

I got this as a sample and absolutely love it. It is very powerful and masculine. Although most people might want to layer this, I think it stands and can be used on its own. Its leathery, woody, and dark chocolatey. I am probably going to have to come back for a full tola at some point.
